July 4th, 7 p.m.
UNC Stadium

UNC’s Kenan Memorial Stadium is the place to go to enjoy fireworks and other patriotic fun for the Fourth of July. This year, gates to the celebration open at 7, and you can enjoy live music, games, face painting and other family-friendly activities. There’ll be plenty of food to go around. The fireworks begin at 9:30, and seats are available on a first come, first served basis. You don’t want to miss this celebration. After all, Travel & Leisure named Chapel Hill one of America’s Top 10 Best Towns for July Fourth Celebrations.

See Your Favorite Movies Under the Stars

Thursdays at Dusk

Chapel Hill’s Movies Under the Stars have already started, but there’s still plenty of chances to enjoy your favorite flick outdoors. This event is hosted at the Wallace Parking Deck every other Thursday all summer long. The July dates are the 14th (Star Trek) and the 28th (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), and movies start at sundown. Admission is free and you’ll get free popcorn as well. Keep in mind that you have to claim your own spot with your blanket and lawn chair, so plan to arrive early for best viewing.

Friday, July 8th
Chapel Hill

On the 2nd Friday of every month, Carrboro and Chapel Hill host their 2nd Friday Art Walk. The July 8 Art Walk is going to feature Photographs by Burk Uzzle at the Ackland Art Museum, a one-artist show at Galerji Eumbaach, a photography exhibit focusing on coffee at Caffe Driade and the work of painter Thomas Teague at the Horace Williams House. In addition to these featured artists, you’ll find a number of live demonstrations throughout the arts district. Plan for an evening of fun as you explore the artistic side of Chapel Hill.
