Whether you’re searching for Halloween-themed events or just want something fun to do this fall, you’ll find that Chapel Hill has a number of interesting experiences for you. From your Chapel Hill North apartment, you can enjoy everything from a trip to the pumpkin patch to a ghost walk through a historic community. Here are some of the top upcoming fall events to consider.
West End Poetry Festival
Attend an open reception and readings by five poets at Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill. At 6:30 p.m. on Friday and noon on Saturday, you can enjoy readings, as well as an open workshop, open mic, evening reception and panel sessions. The event is sponsored by the Town of Carrboro and is free to attend.
Voices from the Grave
Old Chapel Hill Cemetery
From 6 until 9 on October 21, you’re invited to the Old Chapel Hill Cemetery on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus to explore the cemetery and interact with ghosts! The haunted tour is $15 per person, and be sure to bring your flashlight and good walking shoes. This event brings out the best of Chapel Hill’s history through costumed actors portraying the ghosts of those buried in the historic cemetery. It is a little bit spooky, but still a fun experience.
Spirits of Hillsborough
Hillsborough Historic District
The Alliance for Historic Hillsborough will take guests on a walking tour of local landmarks where costumed actors portraying the ghosts of historic characters will interact with attendees. While there is some spookiness to the tour, it’s designed for people of all ages and has a more historic take than creepy. Tickets are $10 for adults, and tours leave throughout the day from the Hillsborough Visitors Center, lasting one hour.
